Saying “A Hui Hou!” To Oahu.

As much as we love meeting new families through buying process, we also love working with families in the selling process, to support them in the best way possible during such a huge life transition… even when it means saying goodbye to some of our military Ohana! It was through the selling process that we really got to know the Vick Ohana, a military family here on Oahu who was on their way to their next duty station, and saying “a hui hou!” to Oahu.

For military families, most moves, at baseline, are stressful and filled with many moving parts. For the Vicks and their upcoming move to Colorado, adding the sale of their home was truly next level in terms of added stressors. Not only did they prepare to move back to the mainland with two elementary-age keiki, purchase a new home from afar while also selling a house, during a pandemic… they did it all while Mom was deployed to Afghanistan and Dad was incredibly busy with his own military obligations and trainings.

Because it was so critical to the Vicks that they work with the right REALTOR, they took the time to do their due process and interviewed several candidates. “We wanted to ensure we really shopped around, to know what each REALTOR could offer, as this was such a big endeavor,” Steven and Tasha explained. In the end, they shared that it was Island Living Home’s marketing platform and website that really set the ILH team apart. “They also are a boutique firm that offers a very tailored experience. Others seemed industrial and didn’t put in that extra care that Shanon and her team did.”

“We are so honored the Vicks chose to work with us, and truly put our unique, tailored marketing to the test,” explains broker and ILH owner Shannon King. “The Vicks deserve to have equal praise in the process, as they took great pride of ownership in their home, and it was truly an honor to work with them and see how their preparation efforts, along with our marketing, really made their selling experience a huge success!” Not only did the Vicks receive multiple offers, much above their list price, they also had offers from buyers who’d never even visited the house in-person.

Another component the Island Living Homes team helps families consider is whether it makes sense to sell before moving, or to make the shift to become landlords and rent out their home. Being a team of mainly military spouses, Island Living Homes agents understand first hand what our military clients go through when making the big decision of keeping their home to rent or cashing out and moving on. Another important aspect of our relationship with clients is sitting down together to crunch the numbers to make the best financial decision for their families. We were excited the Vicks were able to take advantage of a hot seller's market and know they made the right decision for them and their future goals!

“The Vicks were incredible to work with, and really went above and beyond to set their home, and themselves, up for success. Steven worked SO hard to get their house ready, all while navigating a move, fatherhood, and time apart from his spouse. Truly his efforts made a significant difference in getting the best possible price for their home. Thankfully both Steven and Tasha’s mothers were able to come at different times to lend additional support, which was so incredible to see; I’ve never seen that kind of support in the 21 years I’ve been a REALTOR! It was truly heartwarming, and really did make such a difference in their success!”
