HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS
HURRICANE SEASON: JUNE - NOVEMBER

Hurricane Season Prediction
2025 Central Pacific
Forecasters from NOAA’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center and Climate Prediction Center announced the 2025 central Pacific hurricane season has a 50% chance of being near-normal, a 30% chance of being below-normal, and a 20% chance of above-normal activity.
The seasonal outlook calls for 1 to 4 tropical cyclones across the region, which spans the area north of the equator between 140°W and the International Date Line. A near-normal season typically sees 4 to 5 tropical cyclones, including tropical depressions, storms, and hurricanes.
This outlook offers a general sense of seasonal activity, not specific predictions on whether or how many storms might impact Hawaii.
The central Pacific hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
“Even though this season is predicted to be less active, now is the time for residents and businesses to prepare for hurricane season,” said Chris Brenchley, director of NOAA’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
NOAA uses a range of tools—including satellites, ocean buoys, land-based sensors, and aircraft reconnaissance—to monitor storms. Data from these sources feed into advanced computer models to help forecasters predict storm tracks and intensity and provide critical support to emergency managers at all levels of government.
